There’s the 12 days of Christmas, but in December there’s the 12 gifts of National Hunt racing!
All told, there’s a dozen Premier Racedays taking place on UK soil throughout the month, which promise the best horses, jockeys and trainers in the business.
Here’s a quick look at four of the most mouth-watering this festive period.
We’ll get our rundown up and running with a Boxing Day extravaganza.
The December 26 meeting at Kempton Park is beloved by many a racegoer and punter looking to shake off the cobwebs from Christmas Day… or, perhaps, it provides the ideal sofa-TV viewing.
For those that bet on horse racing, the King George VI Chase is the standout race on the calendar, with the 2025 edition potentially set to welcome the likes of Gaelic Warrior (5/2), Fact to File (9/2) and Il Est Francais (6/1).
The latest racing results confirm Djelo to be another intriguing contender for the King George. He won the Charlie Hall Chase in November; a victory that saw his odds for the Kempton spectacle slashed from 66/1 to 20/1.

The two-day Tingle Creek Festival returns to Sandown Park early in December.
A packed card will see some of the finest hurdlers and chasers around take to the turf, with the Henry VIII Novices’ Chase and the eponymous Tingle Creek Chase serving as the headline acts.
The former has been won by the likes of Altior, Jonbon and Edwardstone in recent years, so it’s a race that identifies elite chasers early in their careers.
And the Grade 1 Tingle Creek requires little introduction, with the incomparable Kauto Star, Master Minded, Sire de Grugy and Sprinter Sacre all winning the Sandown renewal before going on to other big wins at the Cheltenham Festival and beyond.
The Christmas Meeting at Cheltenham is always well attended.
And the Prestbury Park card can serve as an excellent warm up for the festival that follows in March, with horses that prove able to successfully climb the famous Cheltenham hill often well fancied for major glory later in the season.
Friday’s action sees veterans and cross country chasers get a chance to shine, while there’s also a Premier Handicap – the succinctly-named ‘The Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Coming Soon Handicap Steeple Chase’ – heading to the track at the 2025 edition.
Saturday at the Christmas Meeting will see the JCB Triumph Hurdle and Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle trials’ both excellent primers for the Cheltenham Festival a couple of months later.
If you’re looking for some top-class National Hunt action literally days away from Christmas, Ascot Racecourse has got you covered.
Their two-day Howden Weekend brings jumps racing to the famous course, with the Long Walk Hurdle the obvious standout on the card.

The Grade 1 race was won in impressive fashion by Crambo last year, who successfully defended the title he clinched back in 2023.
Could Fergal O’Brien’s horse make it a hat-trick in 2025? You’ll see him – and many of racing’s top hurdlers and chasers – in action this December.
